More Ways To Give

In addition to financial support, there are many other ways community members can support The Reading Connection's good work. For some people, in-kind donations may be a great way to support TRC.

Donate new books

At every Read-Aloud, children choose one or two books to take with them.  We go through a lot of books each week, and we are always working to keep the Give-Away Boxes stocked with books that match the interests of the children we serve. From dystopian novels for teens to Wimpy Kid books to bilingual Spanish-English picture books, we stock them all! There’s no better feeling than being able to find an eager reader the book she wants to read next.

Your donations of new books are what make the Give-Away Boxes possible. We maintain two book wish lists. The first is our general TRC Wish List which contains easy-to-find, always needed titles which can be bought at your local bookstore. The second is our Amazon Wish List which holds specially requested and currently needed books. Books ordered from Amazon should be shipped directly to our office, and others may be dropped off at our office. Feel free to call or email us to set up a delivery.

The Reading Connection accepts donations of new, never-before-used books.

Host a book drive

If you want to multiply the impact of book donations for TRC kids, a book drive is the best way to mobilize a group of potential TRC supporters. A book drive is simply an organized collection of new books at a workplace, school, or other community hubs, and is often implemented around the holidays.  For book drive planning instructions, please view the Book Drive Guide and contact Charlie Pham with any questions at cpham@thereadingconnection.org.

Donate stamps and envelopes

The Book Club uses hundreds of first-class stamps each month to send order forms to client families. An even larger monthly expense is postage for the packages containing the books. You can support the Book Club by providing Forever stamps or manila or padded envelopes. If you'd like to support TRC by donating any of these items, please contact Charlie Pham at cpham@thereadingconnection.org.

Make a wish come true!

Children participating in the Read-Aloud program choose a new book to keep for their own each week. Almost all of the 4,553 books distributed in this way last year were books donated by the community. To donate books TRC's kids currently need, view our easy-to-find, always needed titles on TRC's Wish List or specially requested and currently needed titles on our Amazon Wish List
